I hope you are all well during this challenging time. It has been some time since I have provided an update to the membership so I took this time to do so.
I will start with the new CBA. It has been proofread and we should have printed copies shortly. I have uploaded the latest version to this website and it can be found under the resources tab. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the document and if you have any questions please let us know.
Covid19 – A challenging time for us all. Many have been enduring challenges at home and at work. For the local it has been no different. It has actually been busier as we have seen an uptick in grievances filed with the employer since the onset of the pandemic. We have been working hard to settle these issues. We have been using video conferencing and have even went to mediation using this format. Standing committees have also continued to make progress such as the BURC (bargaining unit resolution committee) and we have started work with the Layoff/Bumping rights committee. We have also been working through some issues with regards to benefits and also with retro pay. We will keep you updated internally and if you are not receiving the email updates from the president then please let us know and we will have you added.
We look forward to a time, hopefully soon that we can meet in person.
